Description: Aleutian Mink Disease Virus (AMDV) is a member of the Parvoviridae family and Aleutian virus genus. It causes Aleutian Mink Disease, a disease in minks that primarily affects the reticuloendothelial system. The characteristics of Aleutian Mink Disease include an increase in plasma cells in infected animals, elevated levels of blood gammaglobulin, persistent viral encephalitis, immune complex glomerulonephritis and hepatitis, necrotizing arteritis, anemia, and progressive failure. Due to the significant reduction in mink reproduction rate and fur quality caused by this virus, it poses a great threat to the mink farming industry. This disease is widely prevalent in various mink-farming countries around the world.
