Velaprumig is a immunoglobulin bispecific antibody that targets CD40LG and ALB. CD40 Ligand (CD40L), also known as CD154, is a critical regulator of immune cell activation. It mediates cross-talk between T cells and antigen-presenting cells (APCs), and its dysregulation has been implicated in the pathogenesis of various autoimmune diseases, including systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), rheumatoid arthritis (RA), and multiple sclerosis (MS).
Albumin (also known as Alb), the most abundant plasma protein, is primarily synthesized in the liver and constitutes approximately 55% of total plasma protein content. It plays a crucial transport role by reversibly binding to various poorly soluble small organic molecules and inorganic ions in the body, forming soluble complexes that facilitate their circulation in the bloodstream.
