Description: The Middle East Respiratory Syndrome-Coronavirus (MERS-CoV) is a novel highly pathogenic coronavirus which was first discovered in Saudi Arabia in September 2012. The coronavirus can infect humans and various animals, leading to diseases ranging from the common cold to severe acute respiratory syndrome. MERS-CoV infection can cause severe respiratory illness, with symptoms including fever, cough, and shortness of breath, accompanied by a high rate of acute kidney failure and death. Spike protein S is the main glycoprotein on the surface of virus, which is responsible for binding with host cells and infecting cells. This protein can be divided into S1 and S2, S1 is responsible for receptor binding, S2 is responsible for membrane fusion. Specific monoclonal antibody against novel coronavirus S2 can be used as an important tool for conserved antigen analysis, rapid diagnosis and scientific research, and broad-spectrum antibodies with neutralizing activity have downstream medicine development potential.
