Description: Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea (PED) is a contagious intestinal infection caused by PEDV, characterized by vomiting, diarrhea, and dehydration. The clinical changes and symptoms are very similar to those of swine transmissible gastroenteritis (TEGV). Porcine epidemic virus PEDV belongs to the coronavirus family, Coronavirus genus. Around 2010, PEDV strains with relatively different antigenicity from those previously prevalent strains (similar to CV77) appeared in Chinese porcine, causing serious losses to the porcine industry. NP protein is the main structural protein of PEDV and can be used as the main target antigen for antigen detection.
