Description: Porcine delta Coronavirus (PDCoV) is a novel coronavirus that belongs to the Porcine delta Coronavirus (PDCoV) is a novel coronavirus that belongs to the family Coronaviridae and the genus Delta Coronavirus. It was first reported in the US in early 2014, causing acute diarrhea, vomiting, dehydration, and mortality in seronegative neonatal piglets. The origin of PDCoV in pigs and its introduction into the US is still unclear. Since 2013-2014, PDCoV has spread nationwide, along with porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV), leading to significant economic impacts due to high pig mortality rates.
